Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) is a way to rid yourself of excessive skin , stretch marks and scars of the lower abdomen. The Tummy Tuck is a procedure that is chosen when no other lesser surgery will fully correct the damage that has occurred to your abdomen as a result of child bearing, weight gain or surgery. Your abdomen will be flatter, your skin tighter and smoother. You will have the appearance of looking like you lost weight and your waist line will appear more delicate. You will look better in clothes and will definitely feel more confident without them!
How we do it.
In order to remove the extra skin, an incision is made across the lower abdomen sometimes extending from hip to hip. The incision is planned with great care taking into consideration the contours of your specific anatomy to create the most inconspicuous scar you can achieve. The muscles are tightened at the time of surgery to correct any muscle weakness you may have (bulging) and adds support to the abdomen. A new "belly button" is created that is often an improvement over what you started with.
What we do differently.
Different from a conventional abdominoplasty we not only address the gap between the muscles
(rectus muscles), but we also recognize that the muscles can be longer due to pregnancy or weight gain. Therefore we believe it is necessary to correct this in order to fully and naturally improve the contour of your abdomen (called vertical and horizontal plication). Depending on your specific needs sometimes we can perform a modified abdominoplasty that utilizes shorter incisions and is less invasive. If necessary we will perform liposuction on your hips at the time of your surgery to help blend your contours.
Your comfort is important to us.
We also take steps during the procedure to insure that you are comfortable at the end of the operation. We find that if you are not in pain on the night of surgery your entire recovery is considerably easier. Most patients can walk immediately after surgery and in the majority of cases the abdominoplasty can be performed on an outpatient basis. Remarkably most patients wake up from anesthesia completely comfortable.
