As much as large breasts are admired in our society, breasts that are too heavy and not in proportion to your frame and stature can be a real burden. Clearly out of balance with your body, breasts that are too large can cause back and neck discomfort, grooving in the skin of your shoulder and rashes in the deep folds under the breasts. With the passing of years and the stretching of skin these problems become worse. Women who have undergone breast reduction surgery universally state "I wish I had done this sooner!"
How we do it.
Breast reduction surgery is individualized to the needs of your breast. The incisions are made around the areola (dark part of skin around the nipple), down the front of the breast from the areola to the fold underneath the breast. In cases of larger breasts the incision is made along the fold underneath the breast in order to enhance the final shape. The nipple is never removed from the breast. The excess breast tissue and skin are removed and the new breast is shaped.
After the surgery.
You will immediately note an improvement of many of the symptoms that were bothering you before your surgery. You will look thinner and be in better balance. It will be easier to buy and wear clothes. Your breasts will be more attractive and youthful. Bra shopping will now be fun! This is a life changing surgery that you will appreciate every day.
How we do it different.
Careful attention and time is taken when closing the incisions in surgery to make every effort to achieve the most minimal scarring. This is a very important part of the surgery and one that we never hurry. We encourage our patients to wear a special skin colored tape after surgery that is discreet, comfortable, and aids with wound healing.
No uncomfortable bindings or bras are needed after the surgery. The shape that you achieve is determined by the surgery and no bindings can create the shape for you.
We also take measures during surgery to assure you wake up comfortable. When you wake up without discomfort we find your entire post-op recovery is easier.
The recovery is easier than you think.
Most patients resume normal activity within a few days and report very little discomfort. This is often a procedure that can be performed at the end of the week taking the weekend to recover before returning to work on Monday.
