| We are pleased that the FDA has recently allowed the use of silicone implants for woman over age 22. The silicone implant has been studied extensively and has been found to be a safe option for breast augmentation. The newer silicone implants contain silicone that is more cohesive, meaning it is not liquid and therefore does not "run" or "spread" like the older silicone implants use to do. |
| We also still have saline implants available. Saline implants are filled with salty water and have been widely used since 1991. Implants also come in many different sizes and shapes to accommodate your individual anatomical needs. |
| Determining the best surgical approach. |
| A discussion will take place at the time of your consultation to determine where the best location for your incision should be. The three main choices are underneath the fold of your breast, (infra-mammary), around the areola, (peri-areolar), and in the armpit (trans-axillary). This is a very individual decision that you will make together with Dr .Bensimon. We have extensive experience with all the surgical approaches including the trans-axillary approach, which is not performed as frequently by other surgeons because of the high level of skill, extra training and specialized equipment needed . Trans-axillary breast augmentation is a means to obtain breast augmentation without having scars on your breast. |

Because the shape is determined at the time of your surgery, we don't rely on straps, bindings or special bras to help create your shape after surgery. This helps you to feel more comfortable without restricting your movement and you will even be able to shower the next day! |
